OK...it does sound a bit harsh to write anything negative about a much beloved "Hallmark Moment" as Valentine's Day, but geesh...not everyone is conversant in the ways of romance!
Getting a box of frozen candy for instance, does little to warm one's heart toward the suitor. Having forgotten the day was upon him, it was off to the drug store where assorted types of frozen Fanny May candies were available to the tardy. Not a happy conclusion to that day, I can tell you!
The expensive cards, dressed up like cheap tarts with frills, bows and come -on expressions, would be more appropriate for the dating couple, than the folks who know the lowdown on their mates.
Oh well...being a writer, I know how difficult it is to be original and scintillating, let alone captivating and sincere. So, Happy Valentine's Day to all old and new loves; to all the pairs and divided; to the dreamers and realists. This is a day meant for smiles and love, but most of all, for really good chocolates!
