Here's to the nurses, bless their good hearts
working together, to mend our sick parts
Here's to their quietly, efficient ways
making their rounds, like policemen with trays.
Here's to the nurses walking their beat
soft speaking shoes, that quiet their feet
Soft spoken words to help calm your fears
an arm round your shoulders, stained with your tears.
Here's to the nurses we honor in rhyme
Their dedication, a stairway, so few can climb
To these men and women, our thanks and our prayers
For all of your service while climbing those stairs.
Poem by Francesca Quarto inspired by the nursing staff of Riley's Children's Hospital
